Public Meeting - TDC Consultation on Waimea Dam

Tasman District Council representatives will come to visit the Moutere for consultation on the proposed Waimea Community Dam.

The consultation will be focused on the benefits and costs of the project on ratepayers and water users throughout the District, and how the dam will be managed.

Join us at the Public Meeting on Thursday 16 November, 7 pm at the Moutere Hills Community Centre.

Have your say on the dam proposal - it is a huge project which will affect everybody in the district.

AGM 2017 - Report

Thanks to all who attended our AGM last week. Our three ward councillors were present and TDC staff Brian McManus and Giles Griffith reported on transportation issues and river works in the area.

Overall, we had around 50 visitors, making for a lively discussion when the three parliamentary candidates, Damien O'Connor (Labour), Maureen Pugh (National), and Claire Holley (GOdsownNZ) made their presentations.

At this meeting, we also confirmed our new Chair Faris Mali and new Deputy Chair James Stradling and the remaining committee and officers of the Moutere Hills Residents Association.

The full minutes of this meeting are available here.

Proposed Footpath Outside MHCC

The MHRA is proposing the construction of a formed footpath for pedestrian and bicycle use along the Moutere Highway between the Moutere Hills Community Centre and the Country Kids Preschool.

We want to create better access to the Community Centre for anybody travelling to the centre by foot or bike from the direction of Kelling Road.

This short section of footpath can also be connected to other possible footpaths or bike paths in the future.

We invite you to have your say on this proposal:

  • Do you support the construction of footpaths like this one?
  • Do you have any concerns to raise or suggestions to make?

Come to the AGM on Wednesday 20 September, 7pm at the Moutere Hills Community Centre to learn more.

AGM 2017

The next public meeting will be this year's Annual General Meeting which is set for:

Wednesday 20 September, from 7:00 pm at the Moutere Hills Community Centre

We hope you will find a place in your diary for this event and be able to join us on the day.

All members and the public are warmly invited.

Gardner Valley Road Intersection - Community Survey

Recently we performed a survey among local residents to see if there is concern about the traffic and safety situation at the intersection of Gardner Valley Road and the Moutere Highway. Follow this link for a map view.

We have received around 20 detailed responses overall. Of these...

  • 50% of respondents consider the intersection to be a significant problem
  • 30% of respondents do not see problems, or do not see the issue as high priority

All results are an approximation only. We have collected resident statements for both sides below, followed by a section of suggestions for improvement, and a section of general thoughts on the issue.
