Tasman District Council has developed a preliminary design for a possible route of the proposed shared pathway between the Moutere Hills Community Centre and Upper Moutere Village.
TDC will hold two public community meetings on one day next week to present the proposal and collect feedback from local residents. The public meetings are:
Tuesday 25 August 2020
Meeting 1 at 11:00am
Meeting 2 at 6:00pm
at the Moutere Hills Community Centre
This is an important event for the development of the pathway, so please be sure to attend and provide your feedback and suggestions.
The Moutere Hills Residents Association (MHRA) is assisting TDC by forwarding the invitations to the community meeting. We are also offering to collect feedback and suggestions from any community members who are unable to attend the meetings, and we will collate any feedback received and forward this to TDC.
Details of the proposed pathway route and maps with several options will be available shortly on the MHRA website. There will also be an online survey to collect feedback prior to the public meetings.
The Moutere Hills Residents Association will hold their AGM on
Tuesday 1st September 2020, 7 pm
at the Moutere Hills Community Centre

Tasman District Council is currently gathering data on its town and village centres around the district.
The following 5-minute survey has been created to allow for visitors to provide their ratings and views on various aspects of the Upper Moutere Town Centre.
While the survey appears to be primarily designed around larger town centres, answering this short survey might be a great opportunity to pass feedback back to TDC for residents and visitors alike.
You can use the survey to let Council know what you like or dislike when going into the village centre - and if you have any guests staying with you, this would be a perfect opportunity to let them provide their feedback from a visitor's perspective as well.
Waimea Water Ltd has announced on 21 February that the projected cost for the dam will rise from $104 million dollars to $129 million dollars, due to unforeseen issues with the suitability of rock available in the construction area.
Mayor Tim King responded that the dam remains essential for the region and that Council is committed to pay for cost increases even if these exceed $3 million "but that does not automatically mean it’s funded entirely through rates" and new funding sources may have to be sought.
Waimea Irrigators Ltd responded "The importance of this project to the region has not changed, and it is still the best solution for the region’s long-term water supply” and We will work with our project partners in any way we can to help develop a strategy to raise the additional funds."
